Affirming Care. No Explaining Required.

You shouldn't have to translate who you are just to get good care.

Maybe you've spent years being the strong one, the easy one, the one who doesn't make waves. Maybe you're still catching yourself people-pleasing, still bracing for rejection, still not quite sure it's safe to want what you actually want.

I'm Mark Manning, DNP, PMHNP, and I'm gay. I know what it's like to reconcile who you are with what you were taught, and I built this practice to be a place where you don't have to do that work alone or defend your identity to get real psychiatric care.

Does This Sound Like You?

You've gotten good at being what other people need. Maybe so good that even you're not entirely sure what's left underneath it.

Maybe some of this sounds familiar:

"People know me, but I am not sure they really know me."
"I have spent so much time being what other people need."
"Why do I still feel ashamed when I know there is nothing wrong with me?"

You want to stop apologizing for who you are. You want relationships where you can actually be yourself, and a life that feels like it belongs to you, not one built around everyone else's approval.

I work well with LGBTQ+ adults who want affirming, expert psychiatric care without having to explain or defend their identity first. People who value authenticity and psychological safety, and who are ready for whole-person treatment that treats their identity as a given, not a topic.

My Approach

I don't just treat symptoms. I treat the whole person, including the parts of your story that shaped how you learned to protect yourself.

For many of the people I work with, years of adapting to everyone else leave a mark: the people-pleasing that runs on autopilot, the rejection you brace for before it arrives, the quiet cost of hiding parts of yourself to feel safe. That is the layer we actually work with, not just the symptoms that made you book the appointment.

I also understand the impact of narcissistic abuse, and the slow, cautious work of learning to trust again. I don't just treat trauma. I honor the tenderness it leaves behind, and I bring both clinical expertise and lived understanding to that work.

You don't have to explain why your identity matters to your mental health. I already know it does.

If you're ready for care that doesn't ask you to shrink or explain yourself first, let's talk.
